The Coalition of Implementers for Fertilizers and Soil Health (CIFSH) wishes to inform partners, stakeholders, and the public that Larry Umunna has formally stepped down as Executive Director of the CIFSH Coalition, effective 31 December 2025.
Mr. Umunna served as the pioneer Executive Director during CIFSH’s formative phase, guiding the Coalition from concept to an operational platform supporting fertilizer and soil health actions across Africa. His tenure spanned a critical period in which CIFSH established its coordination structures, strengthened collaboration among its founding partners, and supported the translation of continental soil health commitments into early implementation efforts at the regional and national levels.
Under his leadership, CIFSH advanced dialogue, coordination, and technical support on the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Action Plan, while positioning the Coalition as a credible platform within Africa’s agricultural and soil health ecosystem. The Coalition acknowledges and appreciates the dedication, energy, and professionalism he brought to this pioneering role and wishes him success in his future professional endeavors.

This transition does not signal a closure of CIFSH, but rather a thoughtful consolidation and repositioning to ensure sustainability, relevance, and effectiveness.

During this transition period, interim coordination arrangements under the leadership of Dr. Shamie ZINGORE have been put in place to ensure continuity of engagement and ongoing activities. CIFSH remains firmly committed to its mission of strengthening soil health systems, supporting national implementation efforts, and fostering collaboration among institutions working to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability across Africa.
